Playing 8 sets in one day at Wimbledon championship has to be fixed

by dev June 21, 2022 0 Comment

After just won the Wimbledon 2022 championship, Australian tennis star Matthew Ebden and his doubles partner Max Purcell are presently ecstatic. The Australian men’s doubles team has had a thrilling 2022 season. After placing second at the Australian Open this year and going on to win the championship at the All England Club. In an exclusive interview with Republic World, Matthew Ebden talked about the Tennis Premier League. The pair’s on-court connection, and their recent success.

Matthew Ebden discusses his desire to capture the Wimbledon championship

In the Wimbledon championship match, Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell overcame a deficit to defeat Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic, the reigning winners. While many athletes experience success at their prime, Purcell has had Grand Slam success at a relatively young age. Ebden, on the other side, had previously experienced Grand Slam triumph before winning Wimbledon this year.

When discussing the same, he remarked. “This is not my first Grand Slam victory; in 2013, Jarmila Gajdosova and I won the mixed doubles championship at the Australian Open. For me, winning Wimbledon would be a dream come true. We had faith in one another and were sure we could prevail. It is mind-blowing to be living this great dream, and I am so grateful and pleased about it.”

Matthew Edben discusses his compatibility with Max Purcell

At the US Open the previous year, Ebden and Max Purcell began competing as a doubles team. They advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to the eventual champions. The 34-year-old described his relationship with his youthful companion as follows. “Considering his young age of 24, he has performed really well. We began playing together in the US Open a year ago. And we got along great enough to go to the quarterfinals before falling to the eventual champions. The Australian Open was the second competition, and there we advanced directly to the final. And came very close to winning it “.

The duo lost in the first round of the French Open after winning the Australian Open this year. But the 34-year-old hailed his junior partner and said he was happy with his development after the defeat. “The defeat at the French Open was a painful one. Perhaps we weren’t communicating properly, blaming each other a little, and acting unprofessionally. But that’s not what it was,” he remarked.

We discussed what went wrong during the game. How to be a thorough professional and perform at our best on the court every time for four hours afterward.

Eight sets in a single day is simply too much: Michael Ebden

Tennis players seldom manage to play eight sets in a single day. But Matthew Edben did it by competing with Samantha Stosur in the mixed doubles final in three sets. After playing five sets in the men’s doubles semifinal.

Ebden described the challenge: “I had to play a doubles match that went to five sets, followed on the same day by a mixed doubles final that went into all three sets. I had to play a total of 8 sets in one day and 41 sets over the course of 10 days, which is a lot.

The doubles competition at Wimbledon has historically been contested in the best of the five formats, as opposed to the other grand slam competitions where doubles matches are played in the best of the three formats. When asked if the five-set matches might be shortened to a three-set format, the Australian responded in favour of the custom, “The tradition is interesting to me because it is distinct. It is exceptional because it is different, and I do not believe that it should change. It might easily be the best of three sets.”

Excited to join the Tennis Premier League is Matthew Ebden

For the fourth season of the Tennis Premier League, Matthew Ebden has been named the marquee player and the league’s worldwide representative. The Australian is familiar with India because she has already played tennis. She won the singles medal at the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010. The TPL already has a strong basis. But as it expands, it will also bring in some top foreign athletes to compete both alongside and against Indian athletes.”

He said, “By introducing additional competition, we can not only assist in the league’s expansion within India but also in its expansion internationally. As a result, it is only logical that I become a worldwide ambassador as well as enhance the league in India and promote it internationally.”
