Manchester United fans are still pinching themselves after resigning Paul Pogba from Juventus for a world-record £89 million earlier this month.

It’s been a truly sensational summer transfer window for the Red Devils having appointed Jose Mourinho as manager, won the Community Shield and secured the likes of Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

And it seems as though the good times will keep on rolling after securing their third-straight Premier League victory over Hull City on Saturday.

What fans are most looking forward to, though, is when Pogba finally hits his stride and begins to replicate the form that saw him complete football’s most expensive transfer.

In his first two games for United, the Frenchman has demonstrated his strength and skill but still looks slightly off the pace and rusty.

What’s certain is Pogba is happy to be home – that’s what his agent, Mino Raiola, thinks anyway.

Speaking for the first time to Telefoot, per Goal, he finally revealed why Pogba chose United over a move to Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid.

He said: “We never spoke about business during the Euros. He was disappointed in losing the final.

“He clearly told me what he wanted. For Paul, Manchester has always been his home and I gave him the heads up about everything happening in Miami.

“Zidane also wanted him, I think, as well as five or six clubs. Manchester United is stronger now with my player. Real Madrid is not.”

Raiola also revealed how Mourinho tried to sign Pogba last summer at Chelsea.

“Mourinho wanted him already last year, but it was not the right moment,” the superagent added.

Manchester United v Southampton - Premier League

Pogba’s dream return is now complete and his sights are set on steering United to Premier League glory.

Upon his move to Old Trafford, the France superstar said: “My ambition is always be the number one and be the best.

“So the objective is to win the league. We want to go back to the Champions League because that is where we belong.”
