Manchester City expect to formally complete the signing of Germany winger, Leroy Sane, from Schalke for an initial fee of £37 million in the next 24 hours.
Sane is undergoing a medical in Manchester after City and Schalke finally agreed a fee for the highly rated 20-year-old after a series of protracted negotiations. A deal could be announced later on Monday or, failing that, on Tuesday.
City have agreed to a number of add ons that could take the eventual fee to around £42 million, although that would be dependent on such factors as the club lifting the Champions League, Sane winning the Fifa Ballon d’Or and City selling the player for a profit in the future.
Schalke confirmed that Sane was in Manchester to put the finishing touches to his move to City. He has been undergoing a medical at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance next to the club’s CFA training base.

Widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents to emerge in Germany in recent years, Sane scored eight goals in 33 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, when Schalke finished fifth, missing out on Champions League qualification for the second successive year.
Sane is the son of former Senegal striker Souleyman and the ex-rhythmic gymnast, Regina Weber, who won a bronze medal for Germany at the 1984 Olympics. He played just 11 minutes at the Euros, coming on as a substitute in Germany’s semi-final defeat by France, but was considered a key target by new manager Pep Guardiola.
City have already signed Sane’s Germany team-mate, Ilkay Gundogan, from Borussia Dortmund for £21.6 million plus Spain forward Nolito, a £13.8 million purchase from Celta Vigo, and Ukraine midfielder Oleksandr Zinchencko from FC Ufa for £3.4 million.
They are also in talks with Everton about John Stones although the two clubs remain some distance apart on price at the moment, with the Merseyside club wanting £50 million for the England centre-half. City have offered £40 million and are reluctant to go higher.

City also hope to formally conclude deals this week for Palmeiras striker Gabriel Jesus, Atletico Nacional forward, Marlos Moreno, and Deportivo Maldonado goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli worth around £38 million in total. All three players will go out on loan immediately.
Guardiola’s spending is expected to exceed £150 million this summer but the Catalan is not in the market for another goalkeeper to challenge Joe Hart and Willy Caballero. The purchase of a full-back is likely to hinge on the futures of Pablo Zabaleta and Aleksandar Kolarov, both of whom could leave.
