Brock Lesnar will be back in the octagon at UFC 200 next month in Las Vegas. The WWE has already issued an announcement on WWE.com about his contract situation and insists he will compete at UFC 200.

Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200. Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for SummerSlam on Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.

An announcement is expected about Lesnar’s opponent on Monday on ESPN.

Lesnar has not competed for the UFC since December 30, 2011 when he lost to Alistair Overeem. He made his return to the WWE the following Spring and has been in the WWE ever since on a part time basis.

Lesnar has been open about feeling robbed during his MMA career by his bout with diverticulitis that cut his career short.

A trilogy fight against Frank Mir makes a lot of sense due to their history and with both fighters having won fight against the other. Mir defeated Lesnar at UFC 81 in 2008 by submission. “The Beast” got his revenge at UFC 100 the following July by TKO.

However, Mir was suspended by USADA in April following his loss to Mark Hunt for testing positive due to oral turinabol metabolites. The former UFC champ has denied any wrongdoing but is having to serve a two year suspension.

It will be interesting to see who Lesnar will face at the UFC event. It’s not likely the WWE would sign off on one of their top guys fighting a guy who is very dangerous. Vince McMahon wouldn’t want to see Lesnar lose badly in July in the UFC and then have to promote him in August for a big match at Summerslam.
