On Monday’s episode of WWE’s Raw, it was revealed that former world champion Bill Goldberg would be the pre-order exclusive playable character for the WWE 2K17 video game.

WWE.com announced Tuesday that Goldberg’s addition to the franchise will make him a playable character in this year’s video game. The WCW legend joins the likes of Sting, Ultimate Warrior and Arnold Schwarzenegger as past pre-order exclusive characters.

One common thread between the previous pre-order exclusive characters was that they were all inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. While Goldberg certainly deserves the honor, many wrestling fans hope he follows the path of WCW legend Sting by also jumping back into the ring for at least one more match.

Toward the end of the preview video for Goldberg’s inclusion in the game, the former world champion is seen staring out the window of a police car at a sign that says “Suplex City.” This subtle teaser has created a genuine buzz within the WWE Universe about a possible return match against Brock Lesnar.

If Goldberg were to return to a WWE ring for at least one more feud leading to a WrestleMania match, here are the best possible options as challengers for the former world champion.

Brock Lesnar

One of the most intriguing options for an in-ring return for Goldberg would be against Lesnar. Goldberg’s last WWE match was against Lesnar at WrestleMania XX, and the possibility of rekindling that old feud is realistic.

In the teaser video posted by WWE, the fact that Goldberg is looking at a Suplex City sign could be a clue about what is to come for the master of the spear. While Lesnar vs. Goldberg received a negative reaction in 2004, it would be a WrestleMania worthy rematch that wrestling fans would support now.

At 49 years old, it’s unclear how Goldberg will perform in the ring, but in a matchup against Lesnar, the bout will be more of a fight than a technical wrestling match. With the chance at redemption following their performances at WrestleMania XX, Goldberg vs. Lesnar would be a dream match for those who wanted it to succeed originally.
