Buffon broke the 22-year-old Serie A record in the fourth minute of the Derby della Mole at Torino’s Stadio Olimpico di Torino on Sunday.
But Italy’s all-time record appearance holder was then beaten by Andrea Belotti in the 48th minute to end his incredible run.
The unbeaten record had been held by Sebastiano Rossi, who kept a clean sheet for 929 consecutive minutes for AC Milan from December 12, 1993 to February 27, 1994.
Rossi beat the previous mark set by former Juventus and Italy legend Dino Zoff in 1972-73 by 26 minutes.
38-year-old Buffon has conceded just one league goal in 2016, Antonio Cassano’s strike for Sampdoria.
His form has been crucial to Massimiliano Allegri’s side’s rise up the Serie A table, with the champions recovering from a terrible start to sit top.
Buffon, who was a crucial part of Italy’s World Cup winning side in 2006, has been at Juventus since 2001 when he joined from Parma for £32.6million.
