After great performances in last games for Mamelodi, in an exclusive interview , Mbekile revealed how Mosimane encouraged him when he wasn’t getting enough game time at Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Asavela Mbekile has said that he never doubted his future at the club even when game time was hard to come by.

Mbekile found the going tough upon joining the Chloorkop-based team, as the likes of Hlompho Kekana, Bongani Zungu and Teko Modise were all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order.

As a result, coach Pitso Mosimane often utilised Mbekile as a right-back.

“No, I didn’t doubt my future because I was playing every time, like coming on as a substitute in some games,” Mbekile told Goal.

“I always believed that the time would come for to play regularly and I am glad it has now.”

Now enjoying regular football, Mbekile added that it was always going to be difficult for him to walk straight into the team after signing from Moroka Swallows.

“You must also understand that the players playing in my position in the team were doing well. So, the coach couldn’t just change them and the [entire] team,” he added.

He concluded by saying that Mosimane kept on encourage him when he wasn’t playing, which helped him ease the nerves during that time.
